Why this name?

“Put Your Hands Up for Prayer” started as a simple phrase I would say to my grandchildren and younger niece whenever they weren’t quite listening or were a little mischievous. I heard the phrase growing up in church a few times, but it wasn’t until I began using it with the kids that it truly took on a deeper meaning for me. It was my gentle way of reminding them to pause, reflect, and ask for help.

What I didn’t realize then was how deeply those words would settle into my heart and grow over the years.

I remember how the kids would eagerly repeat after me, praying aloud, “Lord, please help me to be kind and loving and listen to my parents. Amen.” It was such a sweet, honest moment, a small seed of faith planted in their young hearts. But the most touching part came later, when they started calling me out of the blue and asking, “Momma, or Auntie, can you tell my mom or dad to put their hands up for prayer?” It made me smile every time, knowing that this simple phrase had become a way for them to connect with God and with me.

I truly thank God for the blessing and trust He has given us in raising these precious grandchildren. They have changed my life in ways I never expected, teaching me patience, joy, and the power of faith through their innocence and love. “Put Your Hands Up for Prayer” isn’t just a saying anymore; it’s a heartfelt reminder of the power of prayer, family, and the beautiful journey we share together.
